The Bridge Church began life in 1985 when a group of six or so Christians began meeting in a home, desiring to see more of the workings of the Holy Spirit among them. The leader was Jeremy Franklin, a well-respected local doctor.

As the group grew numerically they hired a small hall in Woodford Green and became ‘The Way In’ Christian Fellowship. In 1995 Simon Smith became the first full time Pastor and then a couple of years later the name was changed to Woodford Christian Life Church (WCLC).

In 2001 Simon and Jane Smith took the exciting step of moving into mission work in the Philippines, and Chris and Usha Scott were invited to become the pastors of WCLC.

In 2004, after a clear word from God, we opened our first Bridge Centre in Maybank Road, Woodford. In 2006 Chris felt that the time was right to express our vision in our name, and we renamed ourselves The Bridge Church. Then in 2009 we opened a second Bridge Centre in Buckhurst Hill. In 2011 after nearly 8 years of successfully running the Maybank Road Centre we decided the time was right to vacate it, and relocate our offices and ministry to the centre in Buckhurst Hill.

The Bridge Church is fully accredited with the Assemblies of God of Great Britain and is a member of Evangelical Alliance. We are also a registered charity and our number is 1054387.
