Fridge@TheBridge

We are all aware of the impact this pandemic has had on everyone and we supported people by installing a ‘community fridge' in the main hall at the Bridge Church, Harlow. It's a simple way for the whole community to share surplus food and connect with one another. Anyone is welcome to use it and you can donate to it as well. The whole ethos is one of giving and receiving. Any items of food can be left in the labelled box underneath the table or there is a donations box for monetary gifts available.

This initiative has been a real lifeline for those who have used it – many of whom are on universal credits or are vulnerable eg family carers. But there are also those who work (on low wages) that come along and those who have been signposted to us, through Harlow Frontline. We can also deliver to those unable to leave their homes within the local area so please contact us if you know of anyone needing this support.

With restrictions now lifting further, we will start getting our kitchen ready (during the summer) to begin hosting weekly Saturday Brunch events (11am-1pm). We hope to encourage the community to come and safely gather together again, enjoy a cuppa, have a bite to eat and hopefully start rebuilding friendship. All the hot drinks & food (including bacon rolls) will be for donations.

On Saturday 25th September 2021, 11am to 1pm, we are going all out to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support and celebrate the opening of The Fridge. If you feel able, please come along and be a part of it. We’d love to let people know more about the groups that meet here and the activities that go on.
